“Copper Lane has been brilliant from start to finish. They really understood what I wanted for True Grit and created a website that feels like me and the business, not just a generic cleaning site. They also put a lot of thought into the Google side of things, so local customers can find us. Easy to work with, honest, and genuinely cared about getting it right. I’d happily recommend Copper Lane to any business.”
Twelve years of practical help for trades and small businesses: websites that look credible, local SEO and reviews that get you found and trusted, and follow-up that turns enquiries into booked work, with support that does not disappear after launch.
Look trustworthy
Look the part, and earn the call.
Get found
Show up when people search nearby.
Win the enquiry
Catch every lead, and follow it up.
Underneath all of it, every site sits on looked-after hosting, security, backups and support. That is Care, included in every plan.
The system that wins the work
Your website brings people to the door. These two do the bit most trades lose, they make sure the work actually lands, even when you’re flat out on a job.
Missed-call text-back
You're on the tools, the phone rings, and by the time you've climbed down they've hung up and rung the next name on the list. With Copper Lane, the second you miss a call the customer gets an instant text back from you. They feel looked after, they stop dialling, and the job stays yours. Your phone earning for you even when your hands are full.
Automatic reviews
Reviews are why one trade gets the call and the next gets scrolled past. But you finish, you move on, and you never get round to asking. Copper Lane asks for you, automatically, the moment the job is done and the customer is happiest. Your Google stars stack up on their own, and every new one pulls the next customer in.
That’s the difference between Essentials and Growth. Essentials gets you a proper website. Growth gets you the website and the system that catches the work, the text-back, the reviews, the follow-up, all running around the clock. It pays for itself the first time it saves you one job.

For the business that has seen the SEO work and wants more of it, faster.
All plans have a three-month minimum, then roll month to month. Everything runs on the Copper Lane platform, live and looked after while you are with me. Extra pages, brand or logo work, copywriting from scratch, booking systems and online shops are quoted separately and clearly before any work starts. See everything each plan includes.

Five phases. Clear scope, fixed price, and enough feedback points to keep the work moving without turning it into a long agency process.
Simple websites can still be handled properly: clear pages, mobile-first design, basic SEO, and no surprises at launch.
Week 1
I sit down with you, in person where I can, and work out what your business actually needs from a website. You talk to me, not an account manager.
Plan
Page structure, content plan, and basic SEO map. Grounded in what local customers are actually looking for.
Build
Design and build in short feedback loops. You see the site as it comes together and can keep it moving.
Go live
Final checks, forms, analytics, Search Console, basic schema, and indexing. No messy handover.
Ongoing
Hosting, monthly checks, small edits, and the growth work if you want it: local SEO, reviews and follow-up. The same person who built the site looks after it.
Affordable should not mean vague. These are the boundaries that keep the work useful, calm, and properly scoped, for both sides.
Clear scope protects both sides. You know what you are paying for, and I know what needs to be delivered.
I keep the work practical, but a good site still needs a clear brief, content, feedback, and proper launch checks.
A site is the start of the work, not the end. The studio is set up to look after the website after launch, not hand over and disappear. That is exactly why care is built into every monthly plan.
A site has to explain your services, build trust, work on mobile, and help people contact you. Design matters, but it is not the whole job.
Nobody can promise that honestly. I can set the foundations, improve the signals, and keep working steadily, but Google rankings are never guaranteed.
I do not need endless meetings, but I do need quick answers on services, photos, wording, and contact details so the site reflects the real business.
If that sounds sensible, send a few details and I will come back with a clear next step.

A studio rooted in one county. Every town I list is one I actually understand, postcodes, sectors, search behaviour.
Hover a copper mark to preview the town, then click through to the local web design page.
Essays from the bench. The kind of things I’d want to read if I were the buyer.
Your website footer is the most-seen block on the whole site, so it should carry your contact details, not a second navigation menu.
Alt text is written for people who cannot see your images, and the search benefit follows. Most local sites leave it blank.
Your meta description is the sales line under your search result, not a keyword dump, and most local businesses waste it.
Yes. Copper Lane is me, Sean Inglis. You email me, you get me. No account handlers, no junior designers working under a senior designer's name, no sub-contracting it out. I have been building websites for around twelve years, and I run the studio full time from Ampleforth.
Two reasons. First, there is no agency overhead here, no studio rent, no account managers, no resellers in the middle, so the work stays lean. Second, the model itself: instead of a big bill at the start, the build is included in a simple monthly plan that also covers genuine ongoing services, hosting, security, support, and on the £49 plan, active local SEO. The monthly fee is a fair price for real ongoing work, not a build cost in disguise. Founding clients lock that rate for as long as they stay; standard pricing will rise once the portfolio is established.
Yes. The studio is in Ampleforth and the local work is the focus, but I work remotely with clients anywhere in the UK and have done for twelve years. The local North Yorkshire angle on the site reflects where the studio is and where most clients are, not a restriction on who I work with.
There is no build fee and no setup fee. Your website is designed, built and included in a simple monthly plan: Essentials at £49/month, Growth at £129/month, or Local Pro at £199/month. There is a three-month minimum, then it is month to month, and hosting, security and support are all included. Extras beyond a standard website, logos, ecommerce, booking systems, copywriting from scratch, are quoted separately and clearly before any work starts.
Essentials at £49/month keeps a professional website running and safe: the build, hosting, SSL, security, daily backups, support, and monthly edit time. Growth at £129/month includes everything in Essentials and adds active monthly local SEO work, Google Business Profile posts, review replies, local rank checks, citation building, small content improvements, and a plain-English monthly report. For most lead-generating small businesses the Growth plan is the one to choose, because it is what actually brings the enquiries in.
Most small business websites take two to four weeks once I have your content and photos. A very simple site can be faster; a larger one with copywriting takes a little longer. If you are organised about getting content over, faster. If you take a month to send the photos, longer. I will tell you what I need and when, and keep you posted on progress each Friday.
There is no build fee, so there is no deposit to find. Your monthly plan, Essentials at £49 or Growth at £129, starts the day the site goes live, billed monthly by direct debit or card. There is a three-month minimum, then you are month to month and can cancel with 7 days notice. Invoiced from Copper Lane.
By design, no, and that is usually a feature, not a limitation. A site you cannot accidentally break is a site that stays looking good. Your monthly plan includes the edits, handled by me, which is typically simpler and faster than the owner doing it themselves. Send the change, it gets done.
Often, yes. About half my work is rebuilds. I review what you have, tell you honestly what is worth keeping, including any ranking history, and either refactor it or rebuild from scratch, on the same no-build-fee monthly plan. The takeover review is free.
Your domain and your content are yours and stay in your name. The website itself, along with the hosting and the review and follow-up tools, runs on the Copper Lane platform, which is what lets me build and run a proper site for you with no build fee. While you are subscribed it is all live, looked after and yours to use. If you ever cancel, access to the site and the tools ends. It runs on my infrastructure, not as something held over you, simply as how the platform works.
Yes. Every website includes basic local SEO foundations at launch, page titles, schema, Google Business Profile alignment, whichever plan you are on. The £49/month Local SEO plan then adds active monthly work: GBP posts and review replies, local rank checks, steady citation building, small content improvements, and a plain-English monthly report. That ongoing work is what takes a site from 'launched' to 'ranking'.
The signals that matter for AI search overlap heavily with classic local SEO, a strong Google Business Profile, structured data on your site, factual content, citations across trusted directories. Businesses with proper local SEO foundations are showing up in AI answers; businesses without them aren't. The monthly work on the £49 Local SEO plan includes keeping an eye on AI-search visibility across the main platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI, Gemini) so you can see where you stand.
Included. Every plan covers hosting, SSL, daily backups, security updates, monitoring, and direct support after launch. Care is not a separate product you have to remember to buy, it is simply how a Copper Lane site works, because a website without it slowly gets slower, less secure, and more out of date until one Tuesday it stops working. One clear monthly figure, no surprise bills.
There is a three-month minimum, then the plan rolls month to month and you can cancel with 7 days notice. Your website, hosting, and the review and follow-up tools all run on the Copper Lane platform, so when you cancel, access ends and the site and systems come down. Your domain, Google Business Profile and email accounts stay in your name. I do not hold anything hostage, it is simply how the platform works, and it is the trade that lets me build you a proper website with no big bill up front.
Easy. Small content updates are part of your plan. A genuinely new page, section or feature is quoted before any work happens, at a fixed price, so there are no surprises. Bigger changes, a new service line, ecommerce, integrations, are quoted as a separate project. No hidden hourly rates, and no work happens without your written approval of the price.
I shape the page strategy so the site reads clearly and ranks for the right searches, and where you want it, I draft the copy from a short interview with you, you answer a handful of questions, I write the pages, you approve. Either way the words come first and the design is built around them. Generic AI-written waffle does not rank and customers can tell. The copy on your site has to actually sound like you.
Yes. A simple one-page agreement in plain English: the plan, the price, the three-month minimum and how cancelling works, and confirmation that your domain, content and accounts stay in your name while the website and the tools run on the Copper Lane platform. No jargon, no nasty clauses.
Yes. Sites are built to WCAG 2.2 AA standards as the baseline, proper colour contrast, keyboard navigation, alt text on images, accessible forms, semantic HTML. This is just decent practice; it should not be a premium-tier extra. If your business has specific accessibility requirements (a public-sector contract, for example), tell me upfront and I will quote any additional work needed to meet them.
Same-day reply during working hours, usually within two hours. Evenings get a reply by 9am the next working day. Weekends are quiet unless a site is genuinely down, uptime alerts hit my phone within five minutes, and emergency fixes happen as soon as I am at a keyboard. The studio runs one project at a time at full attention, so the response time stays honest.
Send a short note via the contact page about your business and the pages you think you need. I come back within one working day with a clear next step and a straight recommendation on which plan fits. No automated sales sequences, no follow-up nonsense, just a real reply from the person who will do the work.
Four plain questions. If the fit is wrong, better to know before anyone wastes a call.
No build fee. Your website is included in a simple monthly plan.
Tell me what kind of site you need. I come back within a working day with a clear price, scope, and next step, straight from me, the person who’ll be doing the work.
